Jim DeGroff has been a manager in our Kalamazoo office for the past 3 years. He not only works his tail off for Summit Fire Protection day in and day out, he has also been acting as the Fire Chief for his local community in Paw Paw, Michigan. This is just one demonstration of Jim’s devotion to protecting people from fire, and he continues to give back by volunteering his time and putting himself in harm’s way. For example, recently Jim and his crew (including his 18-year old daughter who also serves as a volunteer firefighter) battled a fire emergency at a local chemical facility. Jim has no shortage of experience when it comes to fire, and he called this fire one of the toughest he has seen during his career. As Fire Chief in command of the emergency, Jim called in and coordinated some neighboring fire departments to assist. At the end of the day, Jim considered it a success because no one was hurt…and the fire was ultimately extinguished.
Jim, thank you for all you do not only for Summit Fire Protection, but also for your local community. Hats off to you!
