Summit Fire Protection Supports Tunnel to Towers to Help Nations Heroes

Apr 05, 2023

Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries out its mission to “do good,” by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Tunnel to Towers is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001.

Summit Fire Protection is proud to provide support to allow the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to continue to help our nation’s heroes, like the family of Cascade County Montana Search and Rescue team Vice Commander Tyler Weir.

Vice Commander Weir and his son were killed in a crash on March 27, 2021. The Weir family was returning to Great Falls to help with a rescue mission when the crash occurred. Vice Commander Weir’s wife, Jennifer, and their two other children were injured in the crash.

Vice Commander Weir was a master sergeant with 13 years of experience with the Montana Air National Guard. In recognition of his service to his community and country, Tunnel to Towers chose to pay off the mortgage held on his home on the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day, a day to honor the memory of the 2,403 service members and civilians killed during the attack.

For Jennifer, who is also a member of the search and rescue team, being able to stay in her home helps preserve her husband’s memory. “It is truly amazing and humbling. My husband and I built our house two years ago,” said Jennifer. “To know it’s mine forever is truly the best blessing I could ask for. I’ll always have that part of him.”

With the support of friends like you, the Tunnel to Towers’ Fallen First Responder Home Program pays off the mortgages for the families of law enforcement officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty who have young children.

“Selfless heroes like Tyler Weir answered the call to serve their country and their community,” said Frank Siller, Chairman and CEO of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. “I call them superheroes, brave men and women who answered the call to keep us safe at home and abroad. I am honored to support the families who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms and safety we all enjoy.”

Throughout the months of April and May, Summit will be matching all donations for Tunnel to Towers up to $25,000!

You can support the efforts of Tunnel to Towers by making a donation today.
